Can I Apply for a BDO Credit Card if I’m an OFW?
Unfortunately, BDO no longer offers credit cards to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) requires all local banks to secure income tax returns (ITRs) from people applying for their services or financial products like credit cards.
As we all know, OFWs are tax-exempted, not to mention they often have job contracts that only cover an average of 2 years.

The insufficient proof of income as well as employment certificates that are relatively harder to verify than those issued locally make OFWs a liability for BDO.
However, if your purpose of applying for a BDO credit card is to make online payments more convenient, you may try BDO debit cards like BDO Kabayan Mastercard instead.
Alternatively, you can also apply for secured credit cards offered by other banks. Some of the best options for OFWs are the following:
- BPI Family or BPI Express Start Credit Card which requires a minimum deposit of Php 10,000 as collateral.
- RCBC Bankard Instacard with a minimum deposit of Php 5,000 to Php 10,000 as collateral.
