4. Consular outreach program

The Philippine Embassy and Consulate hold consular services, including passport renewals, in different cities in Saudi Arabia.

Availing of this service near your location is much more convenient than submitting your application to the Embassy or Consulate.

If you’ll go to an outreach conducted by the Embassy in Riyadh, you’ll need to set an appointment online first.

For schedules and updates on consular outreach missions, check the Embassy or Consulate Facebook page: Philippine Embassy in Saudi Arabia / Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah.

The Embassy of the Philippines in Saudi Arabia also has a dedicated page where you can check the schedules of upcoming consular outreach programs.

For instance, the tentative dates of the Embassy-on-Wheels to be administered by the Embassy of the Philippines in Riyadh for the rest of 2021 have already been released6. Details on how to apply for EOW are likewise announced on the embassy’s website.

How To Renew a Philippine Passport in Saudi Arabia: 6 Steps.

1. Get an online appointment

An online appointment is required for passport renewal at both the Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate in Jeddah.

For applicants in Riyadh: Use the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh Online Appointment System. After setting an appointment, print or take a screenshot of the email confirmation and bring it on your appointment day.

For applicants in Jeddah: As of October 1, 2021, the Online Application System of the Philippine Consulate in Jeddah is unavailable. You may contact the consulate for more information.

Note that if you are planning to renew your passport via VFS PaRC in Riyadh or Jeddah, you don’t have to set an online appointment because walk-in applicants are allowed in these renewal centers.

On the other hand, you have to apply for an online appointment if you are planning to file your application in VFS PaRC in Al Khobar. Their appointment system can be accessed here.

2. Go to the Philippine Embassy/Consulate/VFS PaRC Renewal Center

Arrive at the venue 15 minutes before your appointment schedule.

Bring your iqama because it’s needed for the guest ID. If you’ll renew your passport at the Embassy in Riyadh, present your iqama and the copy of your appointment confirmation email.

For passport renewals in Jeddah, simply look for your name on the list of confirmed appointments at the Security and present your passport.

Submit the passport renewal requirements, except for your old passport that you’ll present later when you claim your new passport.

3. Proceed to the encoding area

Have your photo and biometrics captured. The information on your application form will also be encoded to a computer. You’ll be issued a collection slip.

4. Pay the Philippine passport renewal fee

Bring the collection slip to the cashier and pay the Philippine passport renewal fee of SAR 240.

If you are going to renew your passport through the VFS Passport Renewal Center, you have to pay additional fees. The total amount you have to pay will be SAR 343.

5. Check if your Philippine passport is available for pickup

New passports are ready for release after six to eight weeks.

Check the Philippine Embassy or Consulate website every week for updates on passports that are available for pickup.

For applicants in Riyadh: On the Embassy’s homepage, click on the Passports Ready for Release at the Philippine Embassy or Passports Ready for Release at VFS link at the right side of the page. Look for your name on the list.

For applicants in Jeddah: On the Consulate’s homepage, click on the E-Passport Ready for Release link at the right side of the page. This will take you to a page with links to different batches of released passports. Click on each link and look for your name on the list. Once you find your name, print a copy or take a screenshot of the list with your name.

Note that the Department of Foreign Affairs recently released a Notice to the Public7 stating that due to some technical issues with the company printing the passports, expect delays in the release of the passports.

If two months had passed and your new passport is still unavailable, you may email the Embassy or Consulate to follow up on your application status.

6. Claim your new Philippine passport

For applicants in Riyadh:

If you will claim your Philippine Passport from the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, you need to coordinate with a courier service who will claim the passport on your behalf. Provide an Authorization Letter for the courier service provider that will pick up your passport. In addition, you have to endorse your old passport and official receipt to the courier service.

For applicants in Jeddah:

No need to secure an appointment for passport release in Jeddah. You can personally claim your new passport at the Philippine Consulate during office hours. Present your official receipt, old passport, and the printed copy or screenshot of your name on the list of ePassports ready for release.

The Consulate in Jeddah serves only a limited number of people daily for passport release (50 in the morning and 50 in the afternoon). So come early on the day you’ll pick up your passport.

For applicants who applied via VFS Passport Renewal Centers:

If you will claim your Philippine passport from a VFS Philippine ePassport Renewal Center (PaRC), schedule an appointment for claiming your passport through the VFS website. Account registration is required before you can book an appointment (Start with clicking on the New User link).

If your passport was processed at the VFS Philippine ePassport Renewal Center (PaRC) in Riyadh, you may claim it on the 2nd floor of VFS PaRC in Riyadh at Al Shamshia Plaza Opp. G Mart, Al Futah King Faisal Road Riyadh 12632.

If your passport was processed at the VFS Philippine ePassport Renewal Center (PaRC) in Al Khobar, you may claim it on the 2nd floor of the same facility at Al Khateery Center, Opposite SABB Bank, Al Rakka, Al Khobar, KSA.

Bring the following when you claim your new passport: Copy of Appointment Printout, old passport, and official receipt.

Tips and Warnings

1. Don’t schedule more than one appointment

The Embassy allows only one appointment per applicant and cancels any double or multiple bookings made by one applicant on its system.

If you can’t make it to your scheduled appointment, cancel your appointment first before booking a new appointment.

To cancel an appointment, send an email to [email protected]

2. Avoid dealing with agencies and people offering passport appointment assistance for a fee

Beware of fixers at the Embassy in Riyadh and mobile consular service sites who charge SAR 100 to SAR 500 in exchange for a passport renewal appointment slot.

Filipinos don’t have to pay a fee to secure an online appointment. Avoid and report any fixer to the Embassy via email.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I apply for passport renewal without an appointment?

Both the Embassy in Riyadh and Consulate in Jeddah no longer accommodate walk-in applicants. No one is exempted. All passport renewals are by appointment only. You won’t be allowed to enter the building without a confirmed appointment.

If the need to renew your passport is urgent and you can’t get a schedule online, contact the Embassy or Consulate for assistance.
