Is Postal ID a Valid ID for Passport Application or Renewal?
Yes, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will now start accepting Philippine Postal Corporation’s (PHLPost) Postal ID as a valid ID for passport application starting August 1, 2019.
This major update was released recently following the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between DFA and PHLPost.
The said MOA has officially given DFA the right to access and use the Postal ID Online Verification System (POVS), allowing them to verify the authenticity of the Postal ID card of every applicant and preventing the proliferation of counterfeit cards.
It should be noted that prior to this, Postal ID (along with Philhealth ID and TIN ID) wasn’t considered as a valid ID for Philippine passport application and renewal.
