What is RDO in BIR?

RDO, which stands for Revenue District Office, is a sector under the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) that keeps the records of taxpayers under its jurisdiction.

An RDO performs many tax functions, but the most familiar to taxpayers is its array of frontline services, such as processing of Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) registration and TIN card issuance.

Although the BIR has more than 100 RDOs in the Philippines, each taxpayer is assigned to only one RDO.

Since BIR registration records are not centralized (as every RDO keeps its own records of its registered taxpayers), you can access your information and transact only with the RDO where you’re presently registered.

Thus, it’s important to know the RDO where you’re registered.

What is an RDO code?

An RDO code is a three-digit numeric or alphanumeric code assigned to each RDO in the country.

The BIR uses these codes to track the amount of tax collection within a particular region and record and process tax returns, tax payments, and withholding taxes.

The RDO code matters only when filling out tax forms for taxpayers, as it’s required for every transaction with the BIR.

How to Know Your BIR RDO Code: 3 Ways.

Do you already have a TIN but don’t know or can’t remember your RDO code? You can retrieve or verify your correct RDO code in any of these three ways:

1. Check your BIR Form 1901/1902/1903/1904/1905.

Look for a copy of the BIR form you filed when you applied for a TIN.

It’s the BIR Form 1901 for self-employed, BIR Form 1903 for corporate taxpayers, or BIR Form 1904 for one-time taxpayers and people registered under EO 98.

If you’re an employee, you may request a copy of your BIR Form 1902 from the HR department of the employer that handled your TIN registration.

However, if you previously filed for RDO transfer, you need to find your updated RDO code written on your copy of the BIR Form 1905.

Once you’ve gotten hold of your BIR form, you can find your RDO code somewhere at the upper right of the document.

2. Contact the BIR hotline.

You may inquire about your RDO code by calling the BIR’s Customer Assistance Division.

For security purposes, the BIR provides the RDO code over phone calls rather than email. When you call the BIR contact center, you’ll be asked for your full name, TIN, birthdate, mother’s maiden name, and other details to verify your identity.

Here are the numbers to call when you need to know your RDO code:

  • 8538-3200
  • 8981-7030
  • 8981-7003
  • 8981-7040
  • 8981-7020
  • 8981-7046
  • 8981-7419
  • 8981-7452
  • 8981-7478
  • 8981-7479

3. Visit the nearest RDO.

This method for verifying your RDO code may be the most inconvenient, but it’s a sure way to get the information you need, especially if you can’t get through the busy BIR hotlines.

Go to any RDO and request a TIN verification slip. Fill it out with your full name, birth date, and address. If you’re a married woman, you should indicate your maiden name.

Present your accomplished slip to the BIR officer who will then stamp it and indicate your TIN, RDO code, and RDO location.
